Hypnotherapy for Confidence & Self-Esteem
This is a major issue for most of my clients, I’d say there’s very few of my clients that already have enough self belief. Having low confidence can affect almost every area of your life. It can stop you speaking up when you want to, going after opportunities, forming relationships, standing up for yourself, or simply feeling comfortable in your own skin.
As someone who has used self hypnosis to personally overcome confidence issues myself, I understand first-hand how limiting a lack of confidence can feel. Looking back now, I realise many of the things I worried about never mattered anywhere near as much as I thought they did at the time.
If I can learn to overcome confidence problems, I genuinely believe many other people can too. I have learned that confidence is not some holy grail type thing, that only a select few can ever achieve, it’s a state of mind, a better way of looking at yourself. If you had seen how little confidence I used to have compared to the person I am today, then you’d know that it is possible to increase your self belief too.
See this testimonial from Ebony: Garry is a great therapist and really helped me over come my anxieties , wouldn’t be where I am without him. Feel the best I’ve ever felt, thank you
Obviously, anxiety is heavily linked with self esteem and therefore confidence. Tackle the anxiety, and you’re tackling the confidence, which is just what happened with this client.
In today’s world there are probably more pressures on people than ever before. Social media constantly encourages us to compare ourselves with others, often against unrealistic standards. It is very easy to look at other people’s lives and assume they are more confident, happier, more successful, or somehow better than we are.
The reality is often very different.
Over the past 26 years working as a hypno-psychotherapist, I have helped many people who struggled with confidence, self-esteem, self-worth, social anxiety, fear of judgement, relationship issues, and feelings of not being good enough.
Understanding Confidence and Self-Esteem
Confidence problems can show up in many different ways. Some people avoid social situations, others struggle to speak up at work, ask for what they want, start relationships, or pursue opportunities. Many simply spend years doubting themselves despite being perfectly capable. Many people assume confidence is something you are either born with or not. In my experience, that simply isn’t true.
Confidence is often influenced by our life experiences, upbringing, beliefs about ourselves, past successes and failures, and the way we interpret events around us.
Sometimes people feel they have lost confidence following a relationship breakdown, bullying, workplace difficulties, health problems, or major life changes. Others feel they have never really been confident at all.
Whatever the cause, confidence problems can often create a cycle where self-doubt leads to avoidance, avoidance reduces opportunities, and that lack of experience then reinforces the original doubts.
Low Self-Esteem and Self-Worth
Feelings of inadequacy, low self-worth, or not being good enough often come from the way we think about ourselves rather than from objective reality.
A small seed of self-doubt can sometimes grow into a much larger problem over time. The more we repeat negative messages to ourselves, the more believable they can begin to feel.
Many people spend years being far harder on themselves than they would ever be towards anyone else.
One of the things I enjoy helping clients discover is that they are often much more capable, resilient, and valuable than they have been giving themselves credit for.
How Hypnotherapy May Help
Hypnosis allows us to work with thoughts, beliefs, habits, and emotional responses that may be contributing to confidence issues.
Rather than simply trying to think positively, sessions may help clients develop healthier perspectives, reduce self-criticism, build resilience, and become more comfortable with who they are.
Every person is different, so sessions are always tailored to the individual.
Areas we may work on include:
- Low confidence and self-esteem
- Fear of judgement
- Social confidence
- Shyness
- Self-doubt
- Imposter syndrome
- Assertiveness and boundaries
- Relationship confidence
- Public speaking confidence
- Confidence following life setbacks
A Different Perspective
I often ask clients a simple question.
Imagine you won the lottery tomorrow. How would you feel?
Most people tell me they would feel happier, more confident, less worried, and more optimistic about life.
But if you think about it carefully, the money itself doesn’t create those feelings. The feelings come from within you.
What changes is the permission you give yourself to feel differently.
One of the goals of therapy is helping people realise they do not need a miracle event to start feeling better about themselves. Many of the qualities they are looking for are already there, waiting to be developed.
Professional and Supportive Help
I understand how painful confidence problems can be because I have experienced them myself and have spent more than two decades helping others overcome them.
My approach is supportive, practical, and tailored to the individual. I do not offer unrealistic promises or guarantees, but I can offer extensive experience helping people build confidence and create lasting positive changes in their lives.
